Anomalous heat, heavy rain to hit Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan is expected to experience heavy rain and thunderstorms, strengthening winds and hail in some areas from August 20 to 22, while anomalous heat of up to 41°C will persist in the western regions and south-east of the country.
According to forecasters, heavy rain is expected in the central regions on August 20, in the east on August 21, and in the north-west and mountainous areas of south-eastern Kazakhstan on August 22, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.
Fog is possible overnight and in the morning in the northern half of the country.
Daytime temperatures in the west and south-east are forecast to reach 30–38°C, with some areas of Mangystau Region potentially seeing temperatures as high as 41°C.
Temperatures in Kostanay Region are expected to range from 20–30°C, while northern regions will see 17–28°C. In the central and eastern regions, temperatures are forecast at 17–30°C, and in the south at 30–38°C.
