Anti-corruption probe targets Kazakhstan’s deputy transport minister
02 August 2025 14:01
Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Transport, Satzhan Ablaliyev, has been detained, a law enforcement source confirmed on August 2 in response to inquiries from Kazakh media.
While the source verified Ablaliyev’s arrest, no additional details were provided.
Meanwhile, online rumours suggest the detention is linked to a substantial bribe of $78,000 and allegations of illegal patronage.
The National Security Committee’s (KNB) press service, responsible for anti-corruption efforts, neither confirmed nor denied the arrest.
Ablaliyev has served as Deputy Minister of Transport since October 2023.
