Apartment building ablaze after missile strike in Russia's Bryansk PHOTO/VIDEO/UPDATED

The missile that struck a residential building in Russia’s Bryansk on August 14 may have been traveling toward a nearby military facility, an OSINT analysis by ASTRA confirmed.

An ASTRA OSINT expert assessed that the missile that hit the apartment building at 34/1 Romashina Street was moving in the direction of military warehouses in Bryansk’s Fokinsky District, approximately 3.5 kilometres from the impact site.

Open-source information indicates that a large military-controlled area in the district historically served as a military settlement. The site reportedly houses the 120th Arsenal of Russia’s Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRAU), designated military unit 42696.

Specialized legal organizations, including the Military Bar Association, operate near the entrance to the military-controlled territory from Moskovsky Prospekt.

The area is also located near facilities belonging to an official distributor of Gazpromneft-SM. The distributor’s site was reportedly targeted in a strike on August 7.

A multi-story residential building in the Russian city of Bryansk was reportedly hit by a missile, triggering a fire and causing damage to apartments, OSINT analysis by ASTRA said.

Eyewitness footage shows flames emerging from an apartment on the ninth floor of a building at 34/1 Romashina Street.

An OSINT expert identified a hole on the building’s facade above a window, while windows were reportedly shattered on several floors, indicating the impact caused significant damage to the structure.

The incident reportedly followed a missile strike attributed by Russian authorities to Ukraine.

Earlier, acting Governor of the Bryansk Region Yegor Kovalchuk said that one person had been killed and six others injured in what he described as a Ukrainian missile strike.
