Armenia accuses officer of leaking confidential data on Indian weapon purchases to foreign intel Statement of Armenian security service
The Armenian National Security Service announced having disclosed another case of treason committed by a member of the country's armed forces.
As reported by Caliber.Az, citing Armenian media outlets, the individual, who serves as a Captain in one of the military stations, has come to the attention of foreign intelligence services since the beginning of 2021 and has been recruited by them, according to the security service.
"After being transferred to another military station, the officer agreed to gather and pass on secret information in exchange for compensation, which could be used against the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of Armenia. The serviceman has been gathering and passing on data by using various mobile applications from April to May 2021. He has delivered information regarding types of weapons, their amount, weaponry bought from India and coordinates of battle positions. The officer has been charged and arrested", the statement by the Armenian security service reads.
