Armenia appoints new ambassador to Uzbekistan
31 January 2026 17:25
Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan has appointed Georgiy Kocharian as the country’s new ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan, with his official residence based in Yerevan.
The appointment was formalised by a presidential decree published on the Armenian president’s website, according to Uzbek media.
Data from Armenia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs show that before taking up the ambassadorial post, Kocharian served as head of the Eurasian Regional Affairs Department at the ministry’s central office.
He succeeds Aram Grigoryan, who had been heading Armenia’s diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan since 2019.
