Armenia approves commissions’ work regulations on border delimitation with Azerbaijan

Deputy Prime Minister, head of border delimitation commission on behalf of Armenia Mher Grigoryan has said the Armenian government approved the regulations on the work of the commissions on border delimitation with Azerbaijan.

According to him, the current document is of technical nature and concerns the order of organization of meetings and work, Report informs citing Armenian media.

Grigoryan noted that Azerbaijan will also make a similar decision.

"At the next stage it is necessary to develop another, more substantial regulation. It will present the methodology of the process, define the concepts of ‘map’, ‘legal document’. I think that after the methodology is agreed upon, we will continue working on specific documents and topographic maps," the deputy PM said.

Then the sides will start submitting the documents to each other, assessing them and exchanging views, he noted.

Grigoryan explained that the current document will be published by the sides after approval in both countries.

In his turn, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan hailed the importance of publishing the document, as the society and experts will have an opportunity to familiarize themselves with how the process of border delimitation would be carried out.

"There is an understanding (today's decision is proof) that it is necessary to intensify work and record progress in this direction. Of course, under those agreements that were announced," Pashinyan noted.

On November 30, the 5th meeting of the State Commission on the delimitation of the state border between Azerbaijan and Armenia was held on the border between the two countries under the chairmanship of Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev.
