Armenia arrests two “Strong Armenia” candidates in money laundering probe
Armenian authorities have arrested two more parliamentary candidates from the “Strong Armenia” bloc, founded by businessman Samvel Karapetyan, as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, the country’s Investigative Committee said.
The probe covers six parliamentary candidates from the bloc, with criminal proceedings initiated during the preliminary phase of the investigation, Caliber.Az reports.
Officials said arrest warrants were issued as part of the case.
The Investigative Committee of Armenia added that two of the suspects have been placed in pre-trial detention. Authorities said the individuals may be involved in money laundering, though further details of the allegations were not immediately provided.
The investigation remains ongoing.
