Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict out of CSTO competence, says Russian official
The conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, from my viewpoint, is not in the competence of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
As Caliber.Az reports, Konstantin Kosachev, a well-known Russian Diplomat and Vice-Speaker of the Federation Council, made the statement in an interview with Argumenty i Fakty.
Each of the CSTO member countries determines its attitude towards it independently.
"As for Russia, it is known that we are most sincerely promoting the settlement. Moreover, our efforts are equally in demand by both sides. It cannot be otherwise, the situation can evolve only in this way. To take the position of supporting only one side in this conflict would mean aggravating it. We need to take the position of a peaceful settlement and help ensure that the terms of this settlement are acceptable to all parties", Kosachev said.
