A flag-raising ceremony was held in Marmaris, Türkiye, to commemorate Azerbaijan's official accession to the Maritime Security Centre of Excellence (MARSEC COE).
The event took place at the Aksaz Naval Base, home to the MARSEC COE, and was attended by high-ranking officials and military representatives from both Azerbaijan and Türkiye, the Turkish Ministry of National Defence announced on social media platform X, Caliber.Az reports.
Azerbaijan formally became a member of the Centre in February 2025, joining a select group of nations committed to enhancing maritime security capabilities through collaboration, training, and operational innovation.
Founded on November 12, 2012, the MARSEC COE operates under the Southern Task Force of the Turkish Naval Forces. It serves as a key hub for developing maritime security strategies, sharing expertise, and fostering interoperability among partner nations.
