Armenia, Azerbaijan should find solutions to scores of complex issues Russian Foreign Ministry on peace treaty between Yerevan and Baku

Solutions will have to be found on a number of complex topics as part of the negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Russian Foreign Ministry Deputy Spokesperson Aleksey Zaytsev said this at a briefing, when commenting on a statement by Denis Gonchar, Director of the Fourth Department for the CIS countries under the Russian Foreign Ministry, Caliber.Az reports with reference to Russian media.

Earlier, Gonchar said that Armenia and Azerbaijan had taken Russia's proposals to de-escalate tensions in the region "for further development". At the same time, in his view, Moscow does not seek to hold meetings for the sake of the meetings, "which is often the sin of Western colleagues".

“Someone may benefit from forcing the process to achieve something as soon as possible. But the question is how it will then be carried out. It is on this, as I understand it, that he (Gonchar) emphasized in his speech,” Zaytsev said.

The preparation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace treaty, as previously stated in the Foreign Ministry, is one of the elements of the tripartite agreement between Putin, Aliyev and Pashinyan.

“Russia is actively assisting Baku and Yerevan in the preparation of this document, using political and diplomatic channels at all levels. Trilateral summits are held annually, foreign ministers meet regularly, and such a meeting was recently held,” Zaytsev said.

According to him, the signals from Baku and Yerevan about their commitment to achieving peace as soon as possible do not mean that the parties are ready to agree to any conditions.
