Armenia, Azerbaijan start border delimitation in western section of border
On April 23, Armenia initiated border delimitation activities with Azerbaijan in the Baganis (RA) - Baganis Ayrim (AR), Voskepar (RA)-Ashagi Askipara (AR) sections.
The Armenian media report, citing a statement of the Interior Ministry, according to Caliber.Az.
The Interior Ministry statement emphasized the closure of the Baganis-Voskepar motorway to facilitate demining efforts in nearby areas and ensure citizen safety.
"The Baganis-Voskepar section is slated for delimitation today. Contrary to rumors, there are no plans to cede any part of Armenia's sovereign territory to Azerbaijan. No changes are anticipated along the Armenia-Azerbaijan line of contact. Upon border demarcation, protection responsibilities will transition to the Armenian Border Troops," affirmed the ministry.
In concurrence, the Armenian government's apparatus declared that, pursuant to the delimitation commissions' agreement, "the process of defining coordinates based on geodetic measurements commenced on April 23, 2024" started.
