Armenia bans whitefish caviar exports for six months

Armenia’s Ministry of Environment has submitted a draft proposal for public discussion to introduce a temporary six-month ban on the export of whitefish roe from the country.

The proposed restriction is aimed at supporting the natural reproduction of whitefish and preventing illegal fishing, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

As part of annual conservation efforts, Armenian authorities implement comprehensive measures from late November through February, when whitefish fishing is prohibited.

The seasonal restrictions are intended to protect whitefish during the reproduction period and curb illegal fishing activities, according to the ministry.
