Armenia calls for faster progress on regional connectivity with Azerbaijan
Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan has called on Armenia and Azerbaijan to accelerate efforts to open regional communications, describing the South Caucasus as a stable region with significant potential to become a strategic transit hub linking Europe, Central Asia, and beyond.
He made the remarks during a panel session titled “South Caucasus: A Strategic Hub in the Making”, held on the margins of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“The South Caucasus is currently one of the most stable regions in the world, especially at a time when logistics chains are disrupted everywhere and wars are ongoing. But this will not last forever. And we need to be smart and fast enough to capitalize on the competitive advantages we have,” he said.
Kostanyan noted that Armenia and Azerbaijan need to intensify efforts to open communications.
“As was the case with achieving peace, which required political will and political decisions, now we need to move forward with new political, very important decisions on opening communications in the region, creating additional connectivity between our countries, and becoming a bridge and seamless link between Europe, Central Asia, and the Far East,” the deputy minister said.
