Armenia clarifies several problems with border delimitation with Azerbaijan
The Public Relations Department of the Armenian government answered the questions of Armenpress agency and explained the situation with the delimitation of the border with Azerbaijan in the section of Kirants village in the Tavush region.
“The good news for Kirants is the return of about 25 hectares of agricultural land that had been inaccessible to the village for the past 33 years. Regarding the issue of moving the road connecting Armenia with Georgia, it will arise, but its solution is planned within 2-3 months. At the same time, the road will be repaired, which is an alternative to the main road. As for property issues, their volume is small and the state takes it upon itself to compensate for the damage that citizens will suffer,” the text says.
Two acute problems were the St. Astvatsatsin Church in Voskepar and the USSR-era Voskepar-Baganis road. According to the Government, both problems have been solved in the best possible way. The road and the church are entirely within Armenian territory, and the borderline is quite far from both of them.
Border guards from both sides are expected to stand on the agreed border in the next 8-9 days, and then in the most sensitive part of Kirants because some details there are subject to further adjustments, it said.
