Armenia completes investigation into case of Karabakh separatists’ ex-commander

Armenia’s Investigative Committee has announced the end of the preliminary investigation into the criminal case of the former commander of the Karabakh separatist gang Mikael Arzumanyan.

The statement came from Arzumanyan’s advocate Yerem Sarkisyan, Caliber.Az reports, quoting Armenian media.

Arzumanyan was detained on August 30, 2022, on charges of negligence in the performance of military duties, shown during the defence of Shusha during the 44-day war. On September 1, 2022, Arzumanyan was placed under arrest.

He was appointed commander of separatist forces in the final phase of the war, on October 27, 2020, due to the injury of his predecessor, Jalal Harutyunyan. He was relieved of his post in September 2021.
