Armenia concludes investigation into coup plot, terrorism plans
Authorities in Armenia have completed a preliminary investigation into a high-profile criminal case involving 18 individuals accused of plotting terrorist attacks and attempting to seize power, the Investigative Committee of Armenia announced.
The suspects include leaders and members of the Sacred Struggle movement. According to the Investigative Committee’s Main Directorate for Investigating Crimes Against the State, the accused face charges under Armenia’s Criminal Code for preparation of a terrorist act (Part 1, Article 43-308) and preparation for the usurpation of power, (Part 1, Article 43-419) Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Seventeen of the accused have been placed in pre-trial detention, while one individual remains under administrative supervision and has been barred from leaving the country.
The case has now been forwarded to the supervising prosecutor along with an indictment, with a request for its approval and referral to court for a full trial.
