Armenia detains supporters of Russian oligarch in bribery probe

Five supporters of the Strong Armenia party, linked to Russian oligarch Samvel Karapetyan, have been detained in Yerevan.

The arrests took place as part of a criminal investigation into alleged vote-buying and vote-selling, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

According to authorities, operational measures and searches were carried out at party offices, including a branch in the Avan district of Yerevan.

“Searches are being conducted as part of a criminal case initiated by the Anti-Corruption Committee over allegations of vote-buying and vote-selling. Five people have been detained,” said Marina Ogandzanyan, spokesperson for Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee.
