Armenia detains one of opposition leaders Andranik Tevanyan VIDEO
Police arrested the leader of the Mother Armenia Party Andranik Tevanyan.
He, with a group of activists, blocked traffic on Saryan Street, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.
A few minutes later, police arrived there and took him and several other people to the police.
Some of the students of the Andranik Margaryan School on Saryan Street left the lesson and joined the protest action.
The civil disobedience actions started in the early morning. The activists blocked several streets. Before that, numerous police officers were deployed in Yerevan's Republic Square, and they formed a living wall in front of the government building.
The opposition has been holding rallies in Yerevan for three days now. They have planned to surround the government building where the session of cabinet of ministers will be held.
