Armenia detains opposition Dashnaktsutyun member in Gyumri UPDATED
Armenia’s Anti-Corruption Committee has disclosed the reason behind the detention of Ara Nakhshkaryan, a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) party and public figure.
According to Armenian media reports, Nakhshkaryan was detained as part of a criminal case related to the alleged giving and receiving of electoral bribes.

Armenian opposition figure Ara Nakhshkaryan, a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun) and a candidate on the Armenia Alliance electoral list, was detained early on Wednesday (July 29).
Nakhshkaryan was taken from his home in the northern city of Gyumri in the early hours of the morning, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
According to his lawyer, Abrasim Atoyan, Nakhshkaryan has been taken to Armenia's Anti-Corruption Committee, though authorities had not immediately disclosed the reason for his detention.
