Armenia detains opposition MP who caused scuffle in parliament
Member of Parliament from Hayastan opposition bloc in Armenia Mher Sahakyan has been detained after an incident in the parliament.
According to Sputnik-Armenia, this was reported by the press service of the Investigative Committee of the republic.
Earlier it became known that during a closed meeting of the commission on state and legal issues, a clash arose between Vladimir Vardanyan and deputy from the Hayastan faction Mher Sahakyan. Law enforcers took Sahakyan to the police, and Vardanyan went to the hospital for medical help.
According to the Investigative Committee, on March 31, the police received a message that in the parliamentary session room at number 314, during a closed session, Sahakyan made an unreasonable remark to Vardanyan, after which he came up and hit him in the eyebrow with some object. Vardanyan fell.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated in the Department of Grave Crimes of the Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia for Yerevan.
Mher Sahakyan was detained after the incident due to the existence of a reasonable suspicion of committing a crime and was taken to the police station.
MP Vardanyan was taken to the Nairi medical center.
The fact is being investigated.
