Armenia detains two officials of Defence Ministry They helped to avoid the army
Two officials of the Armenian Defence Ministry were arrested for illegally obtaining a deferment from military service in exchange for a bribe and participation in training camps.
The Armenian Anti-Corruption Committee reports, Caliber.Az reports with reference to the Armenian media.
It is noted that in the first case A. T. together with A. A. helped a conscript avoid military conscription and received a bribe of $10,000; in another case, they helped two citizens reschedule their participation in training camps for an amount of 120,000 drams (about $300).
In addition, A. T. arranged for one of his acquaintances not to receive a notification about participation in training camps. In exchange, he and four other defense officials received a free lunch at the citizen's restaurant.
Currently A. T. and A. A. arrested. Against eight more defendants, the case has been sent to court; they are charged with mediation in bribery by a group of persons by prior conspiracy and receiving a bribe on an especially large scale.
