Armenia fails to pay CSTO dues for third consecutive year – secretary general
Armenia is effectively no longer participating in the activities of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO), Masadykov Talatbek, CSTO Secretary General, stated.
“Armenia has not paid its contributions for the third year in a row. De facto, it is practically not participating, while de jure it remains a full-fledged member of the CSTO. But the decision, of course, belongs to the Armenian people and the leadership of Armenia,” he said in response to a question from TASS.
Masadykov noted that CSTO member states are discussing Armenia’s status within the organisation, including the possibility of suspending its voting rights over the non-payment of contributions.
“Yes, this issue is being discussed. Quite recently, a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers was held in Kazan, where the foreign ministers discussed this matter in detail,” he said.
