Armenia hopes to sign peace treaty with Azerbaijan in coming months, FM says
Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has expressed hope that the peace treaty with Azerbaijan would be signed and ratified in the coming months.
Yerevan has made a conscious choice in favour of peace and is taking consistent steps to stabilise the situation in the South Caucasus, Mirzoyan added.
At the PACE assembly, he noted that an important historical milestone towards normalisation with Baku was the Washington Peace Summit of August 8, 2025, during which a joint declaration was signed by the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan, with the participation of the U.S. President, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The parties also initialled an agreement to establish peace and interstate relations between the two countries, based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
