Armenia hopes to strengthen relations with China, foreign minister says
Yerevan expects to strengthen relations with Beijing, says Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
“Glad to accompany PM Nikol Pashinyan to China, where we marked an important milestone with the establishment of Strategic Partnership between Armenia & China. We look forward to advancing our cooperation for the benefit of our nations in a new chapter of connectivity & wider opportunities,” Caliber.Az quotes Mirzoyan as saying on X.
On August 31, Pashinyan and Chinese President Xi Jinping announced the strategic partnership in Tianjin, formalising it with a joint statement and bilateral agreements.
The partnership focuses on trade, infrastructure, renewable energy, and technology, aligning Armenia’s “Crossroads of Peace” initiative with China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Armenia reaffirmed the “One China” principle, while China supported Armenia’s sovereignty and SCO membership aspirations.
