Armenia initiates criminal case against former top military official

The Armenian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case against Haykaz Bagmanyan, the former deputy chief of the General Staff and ex-chief of the CSTO Joint Staff, for illegal enrichment and concealment of income subject to declaration.

Bagmanyan was obliged to regularly submit income declarations in the period from 2014 to 2020, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Armenian media.

During the reported period, his personal accounts were replenished with funds, the amount of which exceeded his legal income, and the increase in funds was not recorded in the declarations.

Based on the facts obtained, a criminal case was opened in the main military investigation department on the fact of illegal enrichment and concealment of income.
