21 January 2025 09:28

Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan and Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi met in Tehran on January 20 to discuss current political issues of mutual interest.

According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Kostanyan also met with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi. Both sides highlighted the high level of cooperation between Armenia and Iran across various fields, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

During discussions on the ongoing political dialogue between the two nations, the parties underscored the importance of joint efforts to foster the continuous development of relations in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust.

Both sides reaffirmed their respect for each other's foreign policy priorities.

Kostanyan emphasised that Armenia highly values Iran's principled stance on the need to unconditionally respect the territorial integrity of Armenia and the inviolability of its borders.

The two parties also shared thoughts on opportunities to deepen economic cooperation, with special focus on ongoing and planned projects in the infrastructure and energy sectors.

Kostanyan briefed his Iranian counterparts on the latest developments in the Armenia-Azerbaijan normalisation process.
