Armenia, Latvia discuss economic, energy, regional cooperation

Armenian Foreign Minister and Minister of International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan met with Latvian Saeima Speaker Daiga Mierina in Riga to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues.

Gunar Kurtis, head of the Latvian parliamentary friendship group with Armenia, also took part in the meeting, according to Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports.

The sides noted positive momentum in Armenian-Latvian relations and expressed readiness to expand cooperation in the economic and energy sectors. They also discussed strengthening ties between the two countries’ parliaments.

Mirzoyan and Mierina discussed the strategic agenda of the Armenia-European Union partnership and the regional situation. Mirzoyan said the establishment of peace in the region had created new opportunities for developing regional connectivity and infrastructure.

The officials also exchanged views on further steps to institutionalise peace and touched on humanitarian issues.
