Armenia moves to confiscate ex-President Kocharyan's millions, real estate, companies

12 May 2025 12:06

Armenia’s Prosecutor General, Anna Vardapetyan, has revealed the extensive list of assets that the government is seeking to confiscate from former President Robert Kocharyan and his associates.

The lawsuit, which targets assets of illegal origin, is currently under review in the courts, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.

Speaking before the Armenian parliament, Vardapetyan outlined the specific properties and financial resources under dispute. The defendants in the case include Robert and Bella Kocharyan, Sedrak Kocharyan and Zaruhi Badalyan, Levon and Siranush Kocharyan, Gayane Kocharyan, and Vigen Chatinyan.

As part of a concerted effort to combat financial crime and systemic corruption, the Prosecutor’s Office is pursuing the confiscation of a broad array of high-value assets linked to the defendants. The assets targeted for seizure include:

22 real estate properties,

2 rights to purchase additional real estate,

Over $3 million in cash,

Bonds valued at 985 million Armenian dram (approximately $2,5 million),

Bank deposits exceeding $1.4 million,

Shares in 15 different companies, including high-profile businesses such as “Nairi Insurance,” “Toyota Yerevan,” and “Target Group”,

Rights to claims on loans totaling more than $4 million, 8.3 billion drams, 260 million rubles, and approximately 590,000 euros,

2 vehicles,

Additional assets and funds amounting to more than 23.8 billion drams ($61,4 billion),

These assets are alleged to have been illicitly acquired during Kocharyan’s time in office, and the Prosecutor's Office aims to seize them in the name of the Armenian state.
