Armenia moves to rebrand ministries, including AI expansion

Armenia’s government has approved a draft law proposing to rename three ministries, including adding artificial intelligence to the portfolio of its high-tech sector, and submitted the bill to parliament for consideration.

The decision was adopted at a cabinet meeting on August 6, according to Armenian media cited by Caliber.Az.

Under the proposal, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs would be renamed the Ministry of Labour and Welfare, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would become the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. The Ministry of High-Tech Industry would be rebranded as the Ministry of High-Tech Industry and Artificial Intelligence.

The government said the changes are intended to improve the efficiency of public administration and align the structure of the executive branch with contemporary challenges.
