Armenia opts out of Games of Future in Russia’s Kazan
Armenia will not take part in the international multi-sport tournament “Future Games” 2024 in Kazan, according to Artur Sedrakyan, representative of the Armenian Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
“Armenia received a notification to participate. We sent it to the email addresses of several registered companies in the industry, but received a negative response. They noted that they do not have candidates to participate in the competition,” Sedrakyan told Sputnik Armenia.
However, he did not rule out Armenian participation in the future. According to him, the Armenian side will take part if there are relevant organizations that have teams, and if the state considers it appropriate to assist the teams in this matter.
He noted that this year no funding was allocated for participation in these games. However, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Karen Giloyan will represent Armenia at the event.
The tournament will be held in Kazan from February 21 to March 3, 2024. More than 260 experienced teams and more than 2,000 athletes from different countries will take part in 21 innovative disciplines: 16 in the main program and 5 in the extended program.
“Games of Future” is an international competition of a new format that will be held in Kazan in March 2024. All competitions of the “Games” (16 disciplines) support the concept of phygital, which means they combine classical sports, e-sports and technologies.
Professional athletes and clubs from all over the world, who are ready to compete in the phygital format, are invited to participate in the “Games of Future”. Competitors will need to demonstrate not only their physical fitness, but also their skills in e-sports.
The competition will be divided into 5 categories or “challenges”: sport, tactics, strategy, technology and speed.
