Armenia orders arrest of former Defence Minister Vigen Sargsyan

An Armenian investigative committee has ordered the arrest in absentia of former Defence Minister Vigen Sargsyan and placed him on a wanted list.
The move is linked to a criminal case concerning the alleged alienation of property belonging to the Yerevan Brusov State University, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Several former senior officials have previously been arrested as part of the same investigation, including former Minister of Education and Science and deputy chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia, Armen Ashotyan.
The defendants are accused of abuse of official powers and money laundering of approximately $500,000, according to the reports.
