Armenia outlines priorities for deeper cooperation within EAEU
Armenia reaffirms its readiness to engage actively with fellow member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in order to further advance trade and economic cooperation, according to Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
He made this statement while addressing a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council via video link, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Grigoryan said that Yerevan views the integrated information system as the technological foundation for the EAEU’s effective functioning. A number of processes within this system, he noted, are already operational, while others are still being introduced.
Digital trade, he stressed, is regarded as a strategic priority for Armenia.
“We support the initiative to conclude an Agreement on Electronic Commerce within the EAEU as a key step toward the creation of a unified digital market. We consider it essential that the document establish common approaches to legal regulation, digital identification, cross-border electronic document management, data exchange, and mutual recognition of electronic trust services,” the Deputy Prime Minister stated.
He underlined the importance of giving special consideration to cybersecurity issues, including the protection of consumer data and the development of mechanisms for rapid incident response.
Grigoryan also pointed out that transport and logistics remain a critical focus for Armenia. He argued that diversifying transport infrastructure would provide new impetus for increasing exports to third countries and boosting trade flows within the EAEU.
All of Armenia’s projects, he said, are designed to create reliable and interconnected routes that promote sustainable regional development and strengthen economic ties based on respect for sovereignty, jurisdiction, equality, and reciprocity.
The Deputy Prime Minister further emphasised the significance of financial support mechanisms capable of effectively encouraging enterprises engaged in high-tech production. He added that the continued development of common markets for electricity and energy resources should serve as the foundation for ensuring equal economic conditions for all member states. At the same time, he stressed that meeting the internal demand for petroleum products across the EAEU must remain a priority.
