Armenia prepares for border progress with Azerbaijan, Türkiye in 2026, PM says

26 December 2025 20:08

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has outlined plans for advancing border management with both Azerbaijan and Türkiye in 2026, emphasizing the role of the “Crossroads of Peace” project in strengthening national customs operations.

Speaking during a visit to the State Revenue Committee (SRC), Pashinyan noted that the project will open a broad spectrum of activities for the SRC, enhancing both technical and operational capabilities at all customs checkpoints across the country, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

The Prime Minister explained that the focus will be on the practical phase of implementing the TRIPP project, scheduled to begin in 2026.

“For us, this is both a challenge and an opportunity, as the agreements of August 8, provide access to modern technologies that will help us perform our work more efficiently,” Pashinyan said.

He highlighted that the project is expected to bring developments not only on the Armenia–Azerbaijan but also on the Armenia–Türkiye border, signaling a new phase of regional connectivity and cooperation.

Pashinyan further stressed that, organizationally, Armenia must establish new economic and logistical capacities, which will create opportunities for diversifying the national economy.
