Armenia puts ex-defence chief on wanted list

Former Armenian Defence Minister Vigen Sargsyan has been put on the wanted list.

The statement came from the Armenian Prosecutor-General's Office, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

Vigen Sargsyan is charged with abuse of office. Earlier, the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan granted the request for the arrest of the former minister.

According to law enforcement officials, in January 2018, in the process of distributing apartments in a house on the balance sheet of the Defence Ministry, Sargsyan deliberately committed actions that clearly went beyond his authority.

Earlier, Vigen Sargsyan called the actions of the prosecutor's office political persecution.
