Armenia raids opposition, five detained amidst election fallout
11 February 2026 11:26
Authorities in Armenia have detained five opposition figures in Vagharshapat, while searches are ongoing, local media report.
Sevak Khachatryan, leader of the “Victory” bloc, said on social media that the raids and arrests began early in the morning, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
He suggested the actions may be linked to the local elections held in November 2025.
Investigative authorities have not yet commented on the developments.
Following the November elections, three members of the bloc were accused of distributing pre-election bribes. They were initially detained but later released under a travel ban.
