Armenia receives €10-million defence aid from EU

EU foreign ministers have approved the allocation of aid and the start of a dialogue on visa liberalisation with Armenia.

The information was confirmed by the Armenian Foreign Ministry's press service, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan has already commented on the decision.

"We deeply welcome the historic decisions of the EU made at the level of foreign ministers regarding the provision of assistance through the European Peace Facility and the beginning of a dialogue on visa liberalisation," the Armenian Foreign Ministry quoted Mirzoyan as saying.

The so-called €10 million aid will go to "strengthening the defence capability" of Armenia.
