Opposition parties demand recount in Armenian election results
Armenia’s Central Election Commission has received requests for a recount of votes at hundreds of polling stations, the commission’s press service said.
“Requests have been submitted for a recount of voting results at a total of 555 precinct election commissions,” the statement said, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The requests were filed by representatives of the Prosperous Armenia party, the Wings of Unity party, and the Armenia bloc. Territorial election commissions are now expected to review the appeals and determine at which polling stations recounts will be conducted.
The Central Election Commission clarified that relevant information will be published after meetings of the territorial commissions. It also noted that no requests have been submitted to invalidate the results at individual polling stations.
