Armenia relocates ecologically unsafe plant

14 September 2023 17:27

The metallurgical plant in Yeraskh (Arazdeyan) has actually been relocated to the area adjacent to Ararat city.

An Armenian journalist visited the territory in Yeraskh and noticed that construction had been frozen, and now there is only a watchman, Caliber.Az reports citing Armenian media.

“Local residents told us that the plant was relocated. Construction materials have been recently gradually transported from here. The employees were actually “covered over” by EU observers.

“EU observers were present for the workers to be able to remove everything - otherwise the Azerbaijanis would shoot, preventing entry into the construction site,” one of the local residents said.

In fact, the plant is now being built in the area adjacent to Ararat city. Presumably, according to Armenian media, work started in July.

The Armenian Economy Ministry did not confirm or deny information about the relocation of the plant in response to our request.

“At the moment, discussions are underway at the governmental level,” the ministry said.

Azerbaijan has repeatedly stated that this plant will pose a danger to the ecology of the region.
