Armenia’s Civil Contract party elects new board members Pashinyan tops the list
Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party has published the list of new board members following the vote count.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan tops the list with 826 votes, followed by Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan (707), and MP Vahagn Aleksanyan (688) in third place, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
The top 20 also includes Defence Minister Suren Papikyan, Special Representative for Normalisation with Türkiye Ruben Rubinyan, acting head of Elsetey Romanos Petrosyan, among others.
This reshuffle comes at a pivotal moment for Civil Contract, which has governed Armenia since Pashinyan's My Step Alliance swept the 2018 snap elections in the wake of the Velvet Revolution—a nonviolent uprising that ousted long-time leader Serzh Sargsyan and propelled Pashinyan to power. The party solidified its hold in subsequent votes, including the 2021 parliamentary elections where it clinched a constitutional majority with over 53% of the vote.
