Armenia's Constitutional Court begins review of TRIPP framework agreement

Armenia's Constitutional Court has accepted for consideration a case examining whether the TRIPP framework agreement complies with the country's Constitution.

The hearing has been scheduled for September 15 and will be conducted in written proceedings. Judge Edgar Shatiryan has been appointed as the rapporteur, Caliber.Az reports, citing Sputnik Armenia.

The agreement was signed by the foreign ministers of Armenia and the United States. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio signed the document in Washington on June 1, while Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan signed it in Yerevan on June 4.

The Constitutional Court will determine whether the obligations set out in the agreement are consistent with Armenia's Basic Law.

The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) initiative originated from a trilateral summit in Washington on August 8, 2025, where US President Donald Trump, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan endorsed a joint declaration outlining a peace framework between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The agreement also envisaged the creation of a transport route connecting mainland Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave through Armenian territory.
