Armenia’s constitutional court reviews challenge to parliamentary election results

27 June 2026 11:53

Armenia’s Constitutional Court has resumed hearings on a case filed by seven political forces seeking to annul the results of the country’s recent parliamentary elections, according to TASS. Local television channels are broadcasting live from the courtroom.

At the current stage of proceedings, political parties and blocs are presenting evidence of alleged violations during the pre-election period, campaign activities, and election day itself.

The dispute follows parliamentary elections held on June 7, in which Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s ruling Civil Contract party won 49.7% of the vote. The Strong Armenia bloc, led by businessman Samvel Karapetyan, received 23.2%, while former President Robert Kocharyan’s Armenia bloc secured 9.9%.

During a parliamentary address on June 16, Pashinyan described it as “Armenia’s legitimate right” to limit the political activities of opposition representatives elected to parliament.
