Armenia's Dashnaksutyun rep arrested for two months in Yerevan
The Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan has ordered the two-month detention of Igor Sargsyan, a representative of the Armenian nationalist and socialist political party Dashnaktsutyun.
The representative of the Dashnaktsutyun Supreme Body has also been remanded in custody for two months, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
The decision follows an earlier ruling by the court to also remand Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan in custody for two months. Galstanyan faces charges under the Criminal Code of Armenia for "terrorism" and "usurpation of power".
The Investigative Committee alleges that the "Sacred Struggle" movement, led by Galstanyan, had planned actions aimed at committing terrorist acts and seizing power. There are 15 other individuals implicated in the same case.
