Armenia’s Defence Ministry refuses to support film about terrorist Monte Melkonian

Armenia’s Defence Ministry has refused to provide previously promised support for the film Monte about terrorist Monte Melkonian, according to the Armenian newspaper Hraparak.

According to the newspaper, the reason was the presence of military scenes in the film. The project has received financial support from Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport and the Yerevan municipality.

The film is scheduled to premiere on November 25. The Defence Ministry had not commented on the information at the time of publication.

It should be noted that international terrorist Monte Melkonian is regarded as a “national hero” in Armenia. He received the title for his role during the First Karabakh War, when he massacred entire Azerbaijani villages and brutally killed defenceless children, women and elderly people.

Melkonian commanded a unit of Armenian militants during the occupation of the Khojavand district and directly participated in the Khojaly genocide, the violent expulsion of Azerbaijanis from their homes during the occupation of the Kalbajar district, and a number of other crimes against Azerbaijani civilians.
