Armenia’s former MP Vage Akopyan wanted by law enforcement
Vage Akopyan, a former MP from Robert Kocharyan’s “Armenia” bloc and ex-governor of Syunik, who previously headed the “Reviving Armenia” party, has been declared wanted.
The information was confirmed by sources in law enforcement, though no further details are available at this time, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
Media reports recall that in September 2024, as part of an economic crimes case, Akopyan’s brother — “Pure Iron” plant director Karen Akopyan — and Narek Ambaryan, deputy director general of the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine, were arrested.
Vage Akopyan served as governor of the Syunik region from 2016 to 2018, having previously worked as administrative director of the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine.
He was elected to parliament in 2021 as part of Kocharyan’s “Armenia” bloc and resigned his mandate in 2022.
