01 May 2022 13:04

The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia issued a warning regarding the protests in Yerevan

As Caliber.Az informs with reference to the Armenian media, the Prosecutor General's Office statement notes that amid the ongoing protests by individual participants and other citizens, the number of hate speech and intolerance has sharply increased, cases of violence or justifications of calls for violence have been recorded, which " are a criminogenic phenomenon and significantly increase the possibility of committing new crimes".

The Prosecutor General's Office warned the initiators and leaders of the meetings and their participants about the need to "remain within the provisions of the law "On Freedom of Assembly" during mass events, behave law-abiding, refrain from actions that threaten the internal security of Armenia, including provoking possible clashes with law enforcement officers, citizens, provocations, mass riots or from participating in them." "Persons attempting to criminally violate the rule of law will unconditionally be subjected to proportionate legal liability," the agency stressed.

Earlier, similar statements were made by the National Security Service and the Armenian Police.
