Armenia's ruling party dominates parliamentary election Tsarukyan’s party exits early
Armenia's ruling Civil Contract party secured nearly half of the vote in the country's parliamentary election, according to preliminary results released by the Central Electoral Commission on Monday, while businessman Gagik Tsarukyan's Prosperous Armenia party appeared set to remain outside parliament.
After ballots from 1,477,736 voters were processed, Civil Contract won 49.825% of the vote, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
Strong Armenia came second with 23.281%, followed by the Armenia Alliance with 9.934%.
Prosperous Armenia received 3.996% of the vote, according to the preliminary results, falling short of the threshold required for parliamentary representation.
Prosperous Armenia is led by oligarch and businessman Gagik Tsarukyan.
