Armenia’s ruling party moves to amend electoral rules

Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party has initiated an extraordinary session of the National Assembly in order to introduce amendments to the country’s Electoral Code.

According to Caliber.Az, the move was reported by the newspaper Zhoghovurd, citing sources within the party. The proposed amendments are said to focus on provisions regulating the activities of election observation missions during polls.

The newspaper reports that adoption of these changes is necessary to allow for the full and effective implementation of a legislative package that had been approved earlier.
