Armenia’s ruling party to hold first internal vote for election list

The Civil Contract party, led by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, will determine its proportional list for the 2026 parliamentary elections through a vote among party members.

MP Vagharshak Hakobyan confirmed the move, noting that this is the first time such a mechanism will be applied in Armenia, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media,

Commenting on recent internal party elections—where he received insufficient votes to join the party board—Hakobyan emphasised that “no position belongs to anyone personally,” a principle he said also applies to parliamentary posts.

Armenia’s next parliamentary elections are scheduled for June 2026, with the winning party gaining the right to nominate the prime minister.
