26 January 2026 18:44

Armenia has said it expects a delegation from Azerbaijan to attend the 17th Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which will be held in Yerevan, as it invites all 196 member states to take part in addressing global environmental challenges.

Speaking at a year-end press conference, Armenia’s Minister of Environment, Hambardzum Matevosyan, said invitations would be sent jointly to all member countries, stressing that no state should be excluded from the process, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.

“Invitations will be extended to all member states together. No country should remain on the sidelines of this work. We are ready to host all countries and delegations,” Matevosyan said.

COP17 is expected to bring together governments, experts and international organisations to discuss biodiversity protection and the implementation of global environmental commitments.
