Armenia scared of sanctions due to "cooperation" with Russia
Armenian Hraparak newspaper has written that businessman Samvel Aleksanyan found himself in a rather unpleasant situation.
“It turns out that he has been exporting Samsung phones from Armenia to Russia for a long time,” Caliber.Az reports citing Hraparak.
“It is clear that the matter rests in parallel export. However, the chargers for these phones are on the list of specially prohibited goods, and European organisations are closely monitoring these goods not to be exported to Russia. They are included in the list of dual-use goods prepared by the state organisations of the Republic of Armenia, and their export may become a reason for imposing sanctions against Armenia,” Hraparak wrote.
“Aleksanyan’s company tried for a long time to circumvent this ban and used necessary relations in the Tax Service, but failed. He was recommended to negotiate with the management of the Samsung company and propose that the chargers of the phones imported to Armenia should be packaged in the boxes of the phones. They are usually sold separately. The nimble businessman managed to convince the manufacturer, but the Armenian government again refused him, citing big risks, saying that the West would find out and get angry,” according to the newspaper.
